UGANDA IN THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY: Rethinking the National Interest
Ugandans shared thoughts on the question surrounding the possibility of the current EAC collapsing because of the same reason as the first one given the weak and non-independent institutions such as the EACJ, sectoral and ministerial councils and the secretariat. The Citizenry shared views on whether Uganda actually accords the EAC affairs the kind of importance they deserve. They also tried to understand whether Uganda regards her membership to the EAC as part of the key strategies to achieve her short term, medium and long term development objectives.

This community engagement provided a platform on which the Citizenry shared their views on whether the Political Parties really understood the concept of Decentralization, the policy and politics involved, how the districts can enhance their capacity to increase their local revenue and expand their resource pocket among other issues.

This edition of the Uganda Governance Pulse report is based on a survey conducted in March 2020. The survey was conducted by Research World International (RWI) on behalf of IEGP based on a jointly developed questionnaire. RWI conducted the survey involving 2,321 respondents spread over 218 parishes in 218 sub-counties in all the 15 regions of Uganda.
